Two Strategies That May Not Have Occurred to You

There are a number of things that people do to age healthily and happily.
The usual list includes these:
Staying physically active
Prioritizing nutritious eating
Establishing a healthy sleep routine
Scheduling regular check-ups
Quitting smoking
Limiting alcohol
Keeping mentally engaged and challenged
Adopting a growth mindset
Staying socially active
Managing stress
Embracing life with purpose
Practicing gratitude
Embracing faith or spirituality
Accepting and reframing change
Here are a couple that may not have occurred to you:
1. Stem Cells
As babies, we were born with millions of stem cells. These cells had the capability of forming into cells our bodies needed as we needed them to repair and replace older cells. Over years of time the number of our viable stem cells has decreased as part of the aging process. On average, at age 70 our stem cells mostly cease to function. This is a critical tipping point. A definite cause of aging. An influx of fresh stem cells can give those over 70 and those of any other age a new lease on life.
Life Clinic offers ethically sourced stem cells at less than half the cost of other Utah clinics. We want this healing modality to be accessible to everyone. We are happy to let you know that our source of stem cells are pre-Covid from live births in Salt Lake City. Mothers were between 18 and 25 years old and did not drink, smoke, or have tattoos. In addition birth families were vetted for 3 generations against genetic abnormalities. Ours are first generation stem cells as opposed to petri-dish multi-generational stem cells that may be offered elsewhere. If this is an anti-aging strategy that appeals to you it would be wise to act while the pre-Covid supply is available.
2. L-Reuteri Microbes
L what? You may not have heard of l-Reuteri microbes but they USED to be found everywhere. Turns out that anti-biotics kill them off quite effectively. That isn’t a problem if people replenish them. But most people don’t.
Why does everyone need l-Reuteri?
Enhances muscle performance: Some animal studies have demonstrated that L. reuteri, especially when combined with other probiotics, can significantly improve muscle strength and physical endurance.
Reduces inflammation: Chronic, low-grade inflammation is a major contributor to age-related muscle loss. Certain strains of L. reuteri can lower systemic inflammation, creating a more favorable environment for muscle maintenance and growth.
Influences hormones: Research suggests that L. reuteri can influence hormone levels, such as growth hormone and oxytocin, which play a role in body composition and muscle mass.
Produces beneficial metabolites: These probiotics can alter the gut microbiota composition to produce beneficial metabolites, like short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs), which have anti-inflammatory and muscle-building properties.
It’s important to keep muscles strong as we age. Reduced strength causes:
Loss of independence
Higher fall rates with possible serious consequences
Metabolic and systemic health issues: Skeletal muscle plays a central role in regulating the body’s metabolism.
Insulin resistance: Less muscle mass can lead to insulin resistance, increasing the risk of type 2 diabetes.
Obesity: The loss of muscle is often accompanied by an increase in body fat, a condition called sarcopenic obesity. This is associated with metabolic dysfunction and frailty.
How do you replenish l-Reuteri in your diet on a regular basis to help strengthen muscles?
Well, some foods have l-Reuteri. But not in high enough quantities to make a lot of difference. That’s where l-Reuteri yogurt comes in. You generally will not find commercial yogurt with high levels of L. reuteri. The specific strains and long fermentation process needed to maximize L. reuteri concentrations are not compatible with standard commercial yogurt production methods, which follow a different process. That is why we encourage our clients to make this probiotic yogurt themselves. There are instructions on line of how to make it. Here’s an example of one video explaining how to make l-Reuteri yogurt.
